Intro to Windows 10

Starting with the 16-17 School Year, Twin Valley will begin its migration to Windows 10.  This will be most evident in grades 5-12 and will appear on both student and staff computers.  We have listed some helpful tutorials and links to familiarize yourself with Windows 10.

WINDOWS 10: How to add a printer...

  1. Right-click the Start menu
  2. Select "Control "Panel"
  3. Select "View devices and printers"
  4. In the Devices and Printers window, click "Add a printer"
  5. Select your printer from the list and click NEXT and follow affirmative prompts to add the printer.  Drivers should auto-load and you will be on your way.
  6. If your printer wasn't listed, click "The printer that I want isn't listed"
  7. Click "Find a printer in the directory...", then NEXT
  8. The entire directory of printers will be listed.  In the name field type the full name of the printer or the forst few characters of the name of the printer for which you are looking.  Example: "do" for all District Office printers or "ms" for the printers located in the middle school.
  9. Select the printer you need and click OK and follow prompts to add the printer.  Drivers should auto-load and you will be on your way.

 

WINDOWS 10: How to view apps...

  1. As with Windows 7, click the Start button at the bottom left of your screen
  2. The initial view is considered the "Start menu" and consists of options to the left and tiles to the right.  The tiles to the right are customizable; for instance you can have a tile for commonly used apps (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.)
  3. To view all of your apps, simply click "All apps" (your apps will be listed alphabetically)
